That said, there are times a person should take a cab and I actually like other people driving, believe it or not. Once during my time living in LA, I told my wife,”people would know I’d ‘made it’, not by the size of my house but because I’d hired a chauffeur.” Don’t get me wrong, I like driving… sometimes however, it’s more productive to ride, that’s all.

First, I should acknowledge that this post is a little different than most of my posts but I do hope to help folks and I thought this info might indeed be helpful so here we go.

My first experience with Uber came about when I was with my father in NC. Our vehicle broke down and we coasted into a nearby parking lot and abandoned ship. We walked to a nearby restaurant and were having dinner, deciding what to do next.

The waitress overheard us and suggested Uber as a way to get back to the house (from Greensboro to High Point) and then drive back to get the car in the daylight. I had heard of Uber but kind of blew it off. It seemed like a fun thing to try and she had a coupon for a free first time use. (I am going to post a link for the free signup and coupon although I can’t promise it will last forever)

SO, I downloaded the link to my smartphone. Here are the steps that happened next:

1. I opened the app and signed up by the usual email, username, password biz. An email verification was sent.

2. I had to use a credit/debit card. That was easy. The app walked me through focusing my phone camera onto the credit card and automatically took a picture of the card laying on the table.

3. I got a message asking me to allow Uber to know my location and I clicked the okay button.

4. Next, I started the process of scheduling a pickup. This was super easy. Since the app already knew my location, I typed in our destination and it told me the price and upon agreeing, it showed me a name and picture of my driver, told me the kind of car he was driving and showed me a map with where he was. The map updated constantly to show me the driver was on the way and where he was.

5. I had no cash on me which was fine as all charges, tip and otherwise was handled in the app.

6. The driver arrived. He was pleasant and courteous. He drove us all the way from Greensboro to High Point and my charge was zero.

7. In short, it was easier, cleaner, less painful, cheaper, than any cab ride… ever.

I have used Uber several times since. It has always been excellent. It has always been inexpensive and fast, FAR exceeding any other cab experience.

Here is a promo code to receive a one time free use!

AXSCOM

The sign up link is

Enjoy your free ride and please comment with your experience below. Share with whomever you like!

As always, I am praying for all who read this post. Have a blessed week!
